A Fantastic Night for AAF’s 2012 Accent on Architecture Gala

On Friday, March 9, AAF welcomed 400 guests to the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium for the 23rd annual Accent on Architecture Gala. This gathering of national leaders in architecture and design, government, education, and the media joined us to celebrate this year’s outstanding honorees. The program was hosted by AAF president Ron Bogle and AAS Chair, Sandy Diehl. Mayor Michael A. Nutter of Philadelphia received the Joseph P. Riley Jr. Award for Leadership in Urban Design and inspired us all with his passion for urban design. Rick Fedrizzi, President, CEO and Founding Chairman of the U.S. Green Building Council graciously accepted the Keystone Award on behalf of USGBC. In addition, this year AAF worked with media sponsor Architectural Record to present Arch Record’s Good Design is Good Business Lifetime Achievement Awards. The Architecture Award was presented by Architectural Record Editor and Chief Cathleen McGuigan to SOM and accepted by Managing Partner T. J. Gottesdiener, FAIA. The Patron Award to Haworth, Inc. was accepted by Mabel Casey, Vice President of Global Marketing. One additional recognition was presented to AAF’s President and CEO, Ron Bogle, in recognition of his ten years of outstanding leadership of our organization.

The Gala was made possible by generous contributions from our sponsors. Benefactors included the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Jacobs Facilities, Skidmore Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM), and United Technologies Corporation. Supporting sponsors were AIA, Armstrong World Industries, Cannon Design, DLR Group, Gensler, HKS Architecture, Inc., Target, and Turner Construction. Contributors were Cuningham Group Architecture, P.A., Haworth, Inc., The JBG Companies, K&L Gates, Forsgate Industrial Partners, Perkins + Will, RMW architecture & interiors, U.S. Green Building Council, and Weidlinger Associates, Inc.
