April 16, 2009 – Joined by Tom Cochran, the Executive Director of The U.S. Conference of Mayors, Ron Bogle, AAF's President and CEO, traveled to Miami to present the coveted Keystone Award to Miami Mayor Manual Diaz in front of a home town crowd that included many of the community leaders who worked with Diaz in the efforts to introduce an urban renaissance. According to Diaz, "this award is presented to Miami – I am just your representative. A mayor cannot make these things happen alone – it takes a city full of leaders to accomplish what we've done in Miami." The Keystone Award is an annual national award presented by the American Architectural Foundation honoring an individual or organization from outside the field of architecture for exemplary leadership that increases the value of architecture and design in our culture.
