From the Shaw EcoVillage Project, "EcoDesign Corps" (2001 Grant Recipient)
The American Architectural Foundation’s Accent on Architecture Community Grants program assists local nonprofit design and civic organizations in producing innovative public education programming specifically targeted to teaching children about architecture and design. In past years, successful grant recipients have enlisted architects, educators, design professionals, community leaders, government officials, and business leaders to enrich the public's understanding and appreciation of architecture and design. Accent Grants have supported creative programming initiatives, from local television programs to symposia, design charrettes, and teacher education. In addition to enhancing the visibility and public understanding of architecture, this program aims to strengthen long-term relationships between communities and local design groups.
AAF thanks Victor O. Schinnerer and CNA for their continued support of the community grants program.
AAF is currently not accepting applications for Accent Grants. Check back in fall 2009 for information about the 2010 Accent Grant application process.
